How do passkeys work?

What to know
Add a passkey in Settings → Sign in & security. Your iPhone confirms it’s you. Next time, Use a passkey on the sign-in screen.
Creating a passkey and signing in with one are different steps. If Face ID works but sign-in still asks for an authenticator code, that’s two-factor — enter the code from the app.
